I will begin compiling a blog post about 2.7 today, as it's very close to being ready

This is legit everything I want to finish to get to a 0.0.1 release. git.jacky.wtf/indieweb/koype/i

Yeah, a 0.0.1 release. From then on, it's going fully semver with no regard of the societal value of the minor and major versions (read: adhering to semver.org/ all of the way)

Other masto admins: how do you deal with cpu spikes from `convert` (imagemagick)?

You have a limited amount of time in this world. You decide whether to spend it being “neutral” (legitimising trillion-dollar surveillance capitalists) or working with those of us trying to raise awareness about their abuses so we can actually regulate them and get funding for ethical alternatives that don’t rely on them. If you’re doing the former don’t you dare criticise those doing the latter. We’re not the ones punching down and we don’t owe you an explanation for doing the right thing.

We no longer need AWS for x86-64 stuff!

The HP workstation we received is working and once a small disk upgrade is complete it will take over our build needs for anything based on x86-64 architecture.

Our AWS x86-64 infra has been REMOVED and our x86-64 based builds will resume shortly.

We are about 5 days away from the next scheduled builds and we felt it best to make the change sooner than later.

We'll be initiating builds ahead of schedule once the new box is 100% online after the coming upgrade.

We will also be updating our transparency report as well as publishing a blog post with more detail after the builds come back online.

There's a small but surprisingly active group of people on the fediverse I would define as "linux dads". (older men with family and kids)

Oh wow, Steve Klabnik (author of #theRustProgrammingLangauge book and #rust core team member) is leaving Mozilla. words.steveklabnik.com/thank-u

Key quote:
> I could say a lot of things here, but I won’t get into the details. What’s really important is this: I’m not proud to be a Mozillian anymore.

I've heard some negative things about Mozilla lately, but this is something that personally moves the needle in a anti-mozilla direction more than, e.g., ads on the new-tab page

@lupine @thegibson @hcs And it takes a special kind of person. Just like I absolutely cannot work in an office environment, there are folks that simply can't do well in a remote situation.

the fediverse is great for privacy and being in control of your own data. bye-bye, twitter! no more data collection for you!

@ben yes, for somebody who always needs up-to-date software and drivers (to run games for example), Arch is pretty much the best. But I can imagine a developer having an easier time on it as well. Luke Smith did a video on this: (ignore the clickbait title and thumbnail) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bsNIdYw5Ak

As #mastalab is becoming like the swiss army knife of ActivityPub android app (support for mastodon, pleroma, peertube). And multi account. How about a name change to something more broad and fediverse generic? And not a mastodon focused name.

Gosh, that there Prey game is quite a goodun', innit?

I'm not far in yet, but so far it strikes me as smarter than most games.
