@aral is there a simple way to temporarily disable Better on a page? For example, in general I want to block tracking on ups.com, but it also blocks the Bing map, which I wanted to check today. Easy enough to disable in Safari settings, of course.
It occurs to me that as late capitalism continues to unfold into cyberpunk neofeudalism, those of us who live a wandering life might find it useful to #selfhost all our shit on cheap little servers that can hang off a friend's cable modem, but be accessible from anywhere.
I'm not sure if/how projects like FreedomBone handle that latter bit, but I'm gonna see if I can get some useful services deployed over #Tor, because it's great at firewall punching.
@Lumb It's the only place online where people don't say "I can't believe this website is free".
Hey Mastodon fronds
I'm getting close to a technical implementation of the NZ Mastodon Project.
There'll be legal stuff to do after (CoC, ToS, insurance), but, it's getting to where it's feasible.
To do this, to make this work, I will have to charge money. Can we have a frank conversation about what's reasonable here, what's viable, what's even sensible?
My opening thoughts are NZD$10/mo.
What are yours?

It feels good to start a branch of GNOME's #Epiphany web browser where the first commit is a big removal that kills the old, memory-hog ad blocker. Next up: add the new ad blocker, using #WevKit's built-in content extensions support.
The new code only needs to care about downloading the filtering rules and using the new API to compile and make WebKit use them.
For testing I have EasyList (what Ephy uses now) converted to the JSON format, and using @aral's Better ruleset is the final target 🧐
Only 40 hours to go in the fundraiser though, people have to be fast if they are interested in snagging a account!
This is a big release with lots of new improvements!
- Images/videos are now shown in a more condensed grid, thanks to some great work by @stevegenoud. If you prefer the old style, though, you can switch back in Settings -> General -> "Show large inline images and videos"
- Big perf improvements thanks to upgrading Sapper.
- Pinafore can now be hosted as a static site. Note that this is in beta though, and doesn't support CSP.
